Tracking Orders (cont.) - The Main View Screen

In addition to the first column status codes, you can see at a glance a great deal of other information about your order simply from the line of information on the screen.

The Main View Screen
Once you have entered a few orders, take a look at the Main View Screen. You will notice that for each order that you have entered, there is one line. You can think of the Main View Screen as  the unrolled portion of a scroll that has on it every order you have written since you started using BOOKS™. When BOOKSä is first opened, you will see your most recent few orders. Your orders will be on the Main View Screen in entry date order. Within the same date, the orders are sorted by account number. This one line display of your order packs a surprising amount of information into very little space.  On the previous page is the explanation of the status codes in the first column.
Entry date column

The next column is the Entry date column. This is the date that the order was entered, not the trade date or settlement date. You can check trade date and settlement date for an order by choosing View an order from the Orders menu.

BLT columns

The BLT columns are to identify Buy or Sell(or In or Out) , Long or Short, and the Account Type for this order. Buy is B, and S is Sell in the first column. In the second column of this group, choose L for Long, or S for Short. A Buy Short is Covering a short. The type is the usual type numbers, 1 for Cash, 2 for Margin, 3 for the Short account, 4 and 5 for the Bond margin accounts, etc.

The Quantity column

This column displays the number of shares, face amount of bonds, and number of option contracts as a whole number. To see fractional shares, press  Ctrl+V to View the order in detail.

The remaining columns are self-explanatory, including symbol, security description, price executed, account number and account name.

Using the View menu, you can sort the Main View Screen by entry date, trade date, security symbol or description, account number or account name.  You can also choose to see only open orders, unconfirmed orders, or stop orders.

If you are the branch manager, you can choose to see all advisors. Click on View, then all advisors.
