\MASTER". This provides access to the branch master files for these purposes:
File Replication (initiated with the Replicate command in the File Utilities submenu in BOOKS™.) This function reconciles and synchronizes between the individual advisor files and the branch master file. Order approval by the branch manager. This is done after replication by invoking the Approve Orders command in the File Utilities submenu in BOOKS™. If the Ops Manager will be checking the confirms against the original tickets. (To match confirms, click View, Unconfirmed, then highlight the ticket. Click on Orders, Match Confirms or press Ctrl+M)
To begin the installation: Use the BOOKS™ installation disks to install a copy on a workstation. Use the branch manager's advisor number for the installation. Create the above directory structure on the server. Create icons for each advisor as described above. For each advisor: Start BOOKS, logging in with the branch manager's number. Use the command Add Advisor in the Advisors menu to add a record for each advisor that will share this file. Use the Import command in the File Utilities submenu to import the BOOKS™ home-office data for each advisor that will share this file. To provide a workstation with access to BOOKS™ Test Drive: Create an icon in the OverDrive group labeled "BOOKS Test Drive", with command line "F:\BOOKS\TESTDRIV\BOOKS.EXE -T", and working directory "F:\BOOKS\TESTDRIV". You can obtain a copy of Test Drive from your BOOKS liaison at your home office, or download from the Advisor Tools web site. TestDrive is a working copy of BOOKS with test data built in and a script that can be used as a 20-minute tutorial. You can practice on Test Drive without damaging your own data.
